NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY
The Ohio Valley Christian School recruits and admits students of any race, color, or ethnic origin to all its rights, privileges, programs, and activities. In addition, the school will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational programs and athletics/extracurricular activities. Furthermore, the school is not intended to be an alternative to court or administrative agency ordered, or public school district initiated desegregation. The Ohio Valley Christian School will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or ethnic origin in the hiring of its certified or non-certified personnel.
REQUIREMENTS
Prior to enrollment, students and their parents must schedule an interview, provide to OVCS previous school records, and the student must take an entrance test. Students, with parental approval, must give evidence of their desire to attend OVCS and agree to uphold its standards. Incoming students must have a record of acceptable work in the average range and a record of good behavior. Grade placement and units of credit shall be accepted for transferring students according to 3301-35 of the Ohio Administrative Code. An enrollment decision will be made based on an evaluation of the above factors and the parents will be notified. Admission decisions may involve an assigned grade placement and other required academic stipulations. A non-refundable application fee must accompany the application.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
Pre-K students must be 4 years of age by August 1. Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by September 30. Not all children are ready for kindergarten by this age. OVCS will conduct a screening for kindergarten applicants in order to help parents make the kindergarten entrance decision. Generally, students do much better if they do not enter school early. Early entrance is possible if proper testing is done several months prior to entrance. In such cases the student is on probation until satisfactory performance is confirmed. The student may be moved back or asked to withdraw if not performing satisfactorily.
OTHER RECORDS
Each student must provide a birth certificate, immunization record, and a Social Security card. Parents should keep their records current by notifying the office of any changes. The following immunizations are required for entrance into kindergarten unless objected to in writing by the parents: MMR (2), polio (IPV-2, OPV-2), DTaP (5), hepatitis B (3), Varicella(1) and a TB skin test.
Student cumulative records shall be maintained, and student records shall be safeguarded according to sections 1347.99 and 3319.321 of the Revised Code and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 20 USC § 1232g.
WITHDRAWAL: Upon withdrawal, all school-owned materials must be returned to the school and all accounts must be paid before records are released. Re-enrollment after withdrawal will be handled as a new application.
